Tenders are called for by t.he Road Board for the performance of certain contracts. Licensing Court. — An advertisement appears this morning adjourning the Licensing Court to the 15th inst. Dramatic Society.—We are glad to learn that the members of this Society contemplate giving a performance shortly, with a view to resuscitating • its languishing condition if possible. Freemasons’ Hall Company.—A meeting of the shareholders in this Company is convened for Thursday next the 10th inst, in the Court-house to adopt the articles of association. Matawuebo School.—The meeting of settlers nt. the Matawiiero Church op Sunday Inst was pretty well attended. Mr. E. Boulton was appointed teacher, and the school will be opened on Monday next. Gisborne Boat Club.—A general meeting of members of this club is called for this evening at the Masonic Hotel, to amend the rules, and to take into consideration various matters of importance. A full attendance is requested. Church Services to-morrow.—The Rev. W. H. Boot nt St. Andrew’s Church morning at 11, evening 6.30, and nt Miitnwhero at 2.30. Rev. Mr. Carr, Court House, morning at 11, evening at 6. Trinity Church, morning at 11, evening at 7. Waikanae Bridge. — A considerable quantity of the timber required in the erection of the Waikaniie Bridge ia nowon the ground, and if nothing unforseen occurs, Gisborne residents will soon have the pleasure of a walk on the sea beach, the only place available, owing to the muddy state of the roads, in and around the township.

Australian Mutual Provident Society. —We have received a copy of (he 26th annual report of this society from which we quote the following figures . —During the twelve months ending 31st December 1874, there have been submitted 4,470 proposals for sumsamounting to £1,762,750 of which 1,179 were de. lined, withdrawn, or not completed, amounting to £596.100, leaving 3,291 proposals accepted aud completed assuring £1,166,650. This business includes 299 non-participating Policies assuring £77,650. The new premiums amount to £42,907 14s 3d. The number of policies issued since the establishment of the society to the 31st December 1874, is 26,252, assuring £10,374,119, of which 6,167 have been discontinued, leaving 20,085 existing policies assuring £7,903,004. The annual income from premiums amounts to £277,422 7 9d, from interest to £82,320 10s, making the total annual revenue of the society £359,742 17s 9d.” The society has deposited securities to the value of £20,000 with the Public Trustee in New Zealand, in compliance with the terms of the New Zealand Life Assurance Companies Act, 1873.
