We have barely space to allude to the purport of the telegrams received from Napier yesterday, which report, the existence of a rumor that the Uriwera Natives are building two fighting pas, one on the margin of the Waikaremoana lake, and the other at Kuatahuna. On receipt of the original telegram, we immediately wired for the fullest and latest pari ticulars obtainable, but nothing beyond what we have published could be gleaned tip to 5 o’clock last night. Of course it is but a rumor, and, in the.absence of anything more definite, it must be accepted cum yrano satis.. shade of probability is given to the report from the fact that the settlers are petitioning the government for further Constabulary protection, a step they would not take, unless there was some reasonable necessity for it. We sincerely trust, however, that the report is ill-founded.
