DEPARTURES. MAT. 2C—Rangatira, s.s, Captain Griffiths, for Napier. Passengers: Messrs. Carter, Cull, Axup, Solomon, and two natives. Thr Ho-a-head and Southern Cross arrived at Auckland on Thursday morning last. Th<? Go-a-head will steam for Napier on or about Monday next ; she will just miss the English Mail again, the Mikado being due in Auckland to-morrow. The Rangatira arrived in port on Thursday morning last, with the English mail viaSuez.| The s.s. Manawatu will take the place of the ss. Rangatira, in consequence of the latter vessel being about to undergo certain improvements and repair. The Manawatu will not come on to Poverty Bay next week. The s.s. Pretty Jane is undergoing repairs at Fraser and Tinne’s place, Auckland, beneath Point St. Barnabas ; she has been carried up the “ ways” until she lies high and dry at all times of the tide, in fact she will have to be relaunched when the repairs are completed, which will be some time yet. Auckland, May 18. The voyage of the Shooting Star was uneventful and protracted, in consequence of the long continued adverse weather which she met with. The vessel encountered a hurricane off the North Cape on the 15th instant, and she was 96 days making the meridian of the Cape of Good Hope. Jibe brought.no passengers. Arrived : Dunedin, ship. 96 days out from London, with about 250 immigrants, all well. Three cases of typhoid fever occurred during the voyage. One immigrant, named Stevenson, and two infants died.
