POET OF POVERTY BAY
Harbour improvements have been going oiv actively since the arrival of the Luna, i.e., Ab far as blasting operations are concerned! Captain Fairchild and Captain Chrisp have been busily engaged with the dynamite originally brought from Wellington for the purpose of removing the papa rock obstructions which lie in the fair way of the river, and, as fur as their material would allow, with complete success. Three of the most formidable rocks have been operated on, the result of which has demonstrated pretty clearly the fact that they can all lx? dislodged with comparative ease, and little expense. Captain Chrisp perfectly understands the modus operand! ; and so soon as fresh supplies of dynamite are to hand he will accept every favorable opportunity of ridding the channel of these obstructions.
