Passengers:—Messrs Norris, Bryant, and others. 11— Luna, G.G. p.s..Captain Fairchild, from Tauranga. via the coast. Passengers : —Sir Donald McLean, Leiut. Col. St. John. Lieut. Col. M’Donnel, Mr., Mrs., and Miss Gill, and Mr. Davis. 12— Rover, schooner, from Auckland. DEPARTURES. APRIL. 10—Go-a-head, s.s., for Auckland, with miscellaneous cargo, and the following passengers i — Mrs. Lysnar and son. Miss Schultz, Mrs. and Miss Colebrook, Miss Hall, Miss Chapman, Messrs Bradenam, Boylan, and Master Bloomfield. Messrs. Fraser and Tinne have obtained the contract for repairing the Pretty Jane for £1,200, also a further contract for improving the cabin for £4OO. We learn that Captain Palmer, late of the A.S.P. Company’s Pretty Jane, has been offered, and has accepted, the command of the s.s. Star of the South, belonging to the same firm, Captain Faiquhar having relinquished that position. The resignation of Captain Farquhar will, no doubt, excite regret amongst mercantile men generally, and those who travelled with him in his various tripe, both down to the South and to Levuka, for his popularity as a commander ; his proficiency and attention to the comfort of passengers placed under his care are so well known as to need no comment.
