— —* OHINEMURI. Surveyors have commenced laying out the road from Mitchell's to Waitekauri. Another rush to Rotokohu has taken place owing to reported discoveries of alluvial. Some good golden stone has been brought in from Waitekauri. It is said to be from a reef. Clarkson and Cobley have struck good gold. Numbers are arriving back again by the steamer. Protection is granted to claims during Easter holidays. There is now a population of at least 1000. The Prospectors reef is now admitted on all hands to be payable, worth from 1| ozs. per ton, Big Peter has exhibited some good parcels of coarse gold, which he asserts came out of his claim, situated in a blind gully towards the Waitekauri. He says that when the people rushed to the Waitekauri, a fortnight ago, numbers of them passed along the track not far from his claim, and rushed back again en route to the spots from which they came, proclaiming the field a duffer. I believe that Big Peter is at last unearthed, and claims taken up around him. GRAHAMSTOWN. The Queen of Beauty declared a dividend of £2lO per share for the fortnight. The Dauntless and Sink to Rise tributes crushed 7j tons with a yield of 37 ounces 10 dwts.
