The Auckland Steam Packet Company having been in existence now nearly three years, and from the success which has attended its operations up to the present time, the Directors are of opinion that the Company is now thoroughly established. The whole of the unallotted shares having been disposed of at a premium of ten shillings, and promise of support having been obtained from several quarters ; a fitting opportunity now presents itself to extend the Company. No better proof can be given of the Company’s success, than the fact of having started with one steamer only, they have been enabled, with a small Paid-up Capital, to pur- ( ehase three other steamers of the most economical class, in every respect well suited for the trades in which they are employed, and during the last eighteen months have paid dividends at the rate of Ten per cent per annum, besides having made accumulated profits to the extent of over £7OOO. To secure to this port the rapidly increasing Coastal and Island Trade, and to enable the Company to pay cash for the purchase of new steamers, it is proposed to increase the Capital of the Company to £150,000, by the issue of 10,000 new shares of Ten Pounds each ; four S’ paid up, at a premium of ten shillings re, which premium will be carried to leral reserve fund of the Company, benefit of both old and new share- - It is contemplated to offer the shares as follows: —One pound on application, one pound on allotment, the balance at intervals of three months after allotment, in two separate calls of one pound, and one ponnd ten shillings respectively ; or applicants can pay in full at once, and receive scrip entitling them to Dividends. The Share Lists remain open to 31st March inclusive.
