FRIGHTFUL INTELLIGENCE. EDWARDS REFUSES TO LEAVE THE FIELD. Disorder in the Camp. OPEN WAR DECLARED. THREATENING ASPECT of AFFAIRS IN THE DRAPERY AND CLOTHING LINE ! TO THE INHABITANTS OF GISBORNE AND THE SURROUNDING DISTRICTS. the fact that the Local storekeepers hare endeavored to drive me out of the Field in Gisborne, I am determined, in defiance of such narrow-mindedness as their advertisement displays, to sell at the same RIDICULOUS PRICES AS I HAVE ALWAYS DONE. It is a well-known fact that in most establishments where the Credit system is encouraged* those who DO PAY their Debts are made to suffer by EXTRA CHARGE for those who Never Pay at all. In a genuine Cash Business such an unfair practice is not resorted to —no per eertage for bad or doubt fid Debts being required. By this, it is plainly seen where the customer fares best. WHOLESALE INS.ULT. THE GRAND COMBINATION Might have had the good sense not to insult the inhabitants whose support they solicit, by dictating as to how they should dispose of their money. Their advertisement speaks for itself. The Large stock which I intend to dispose of at such prices as have been proved to defy competition, is New and Seasonable. I have no UNSALEABLE OR MOTH-EATEN RUBBISH ON HAND, neither do I wish to dispose of goods which have been lying idle and accumulating since the Birth of Gisborne. The ° Combination ” may rest assured that although my presence here annoys them, I WILL CLEAR OUT Whenever I choose to do so, which is more than some people in the same LINE can say. PS.—W. E. desires to express his sincere thanks to the three firms who have gratuitously advertised his fame, and assures them that had he been aware of such an unlooked-for lift, he would have intimated his coming a month since.
