Mb. Maynard’s report of the stock sale at Mr. Poynter’s yards at Toanga on Saturday last, is very favorable. Prices ruled well for most €>f the lots offered, all of which were •old except 100 ewes, bought in at Ils, and ths horse “ Gammon,” for which no bid was taken. 515 store and fat sheep were brought to the hammer at prices ranging from 5s 3d to 12s 3d; a lot of 125 mixed lambs were quitted at 4* 24 : 2 Lincoln rams brought 72s 41 each, 3 at 77s 6d, 2 at 105 s and 2 at 120 s. . Auckland. Mr. Buckland reports fat cattle in unusually full supply at from 25s to 26s per 100 lbs ; inferior, 20s ; fat sheep, 3d to old per lb; inferior ewes, 8s to 12s each. Dunedin. March 6. The millers have reduced the price of flour 30s a ton ; the price is now £lO 10s. The act ion is mainly due to the keen competition and large recent arrivals from Adelaide. From Mr. Miller’s Hawke’s Bay stock and station report for March we clip the following.— Cattle.—Fat 17s 61 to 20s per 100 lbs.; stores, mixed, nominal £4 to £4 10s each ; steers 2 years and up war Is, equal proportion «gee. £s to-£6 each , dairy cows, in demand at from £7 10s to £lO each. Wedders. —Fat, supply abundant, demand limited ; stores, merino, 2,4, and 6 tooth, ready saleable as 8s; 8 tooth, 6s 6d to 7s ; aged, plentiful, prices nominal : cross bred, mixed ages, 9 to 10s. At these prices I have placed siTerai lot*. 'all classes, amounting to 9,503 ewes and mixed flocks. In young sheep Urge numbers coutd be placed, 2,4, and 6 tooth merinos, 10s to 11® ; 8 tooth. 7s 6d to 8s 6d : old but sound mouth, plentiful, price nominal; cross bred lambsand shearlings, 10 to Il's ; 4 and 6 tooth, Ils to 13s ; f bred, same ages, 15s to 2-M each/ At these rates I have sold about 10,500 in various lots. Horse StiM’K. —The market continues quiet, but steadily recovering from the late over supply. Medium draught may be
quoted £35 to £45 ; heavy do, £6O to £BO. In light hacks the market is overstocked, bnt no first class hacks offering. 1 have sold the Hon. J. D. Ormond’s properties to H. Gaisford, Esq., Oringi, etc., leaseholds, 16,000 acres, at moderate rental, with 4000 mixed sheep, for £6,000.
