COMMERCIAL.
Wellington. A produce telegram received by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, dated London, 3rd February, reports that 140,000 bales of wool have arrived up to date. Trade in the manufacturing districts is not good. Tallow is dull of sale ; supplies of town melted heavy mutton, 42s per cwt.; beef, 41s. In the leather trade the demand is good. The copper market is unchanged. Wheat has declined 2s per quarter of 196 pounds since last report. In preserved meats the provincial demand has declined ; boiled mutton, without bone, in Gib tins, is worth 6| per lb. The kauri gum market is firm ; the stock, according to last returns, was 600 tons. Auckland Mr. Buckland reports: Fat cattle abundant, prices slightly lower ; best, from 22s to 25s per lOOlbs ; inferior, from 18s per 1001 bs. fiheep are in average number, at 3d per lb.
