FAREWELL SWEET LOVE.
Farewell sweet love, for ever dear, We yet again may meet; And then, my fond one, Sorrow’s tear Shall change to joy so sweet; That our bright smiles will soft reveal What tongue can never speak— To paint such joys as then we’ll feel, All language were too weak. As exiles gaze upon the star, That o’er their home may shine, So iny true heart to thee afar, Shall fondly still incline. Yes, dearest love, ’twill never stray, But ever constant be; For though I may be far away, I sigh alone for thee. Alas! My love, to say adieu Doth make my sad heart ache, But ere its love shall fade for you, Its dearest chords will break. One fond embrace, one kiss, my sweet, I'll keep it pure and free From other lips, and when we meet Again restore it thee.
