HAWKE’S BAY STOCK AND STATION REPORT FOR JANUARY. Mr. M. R. Miller reports as follow: — The transactions for the past month—which may be considered the initiative of the season —iu store sheep have been fully equal to those of same month last year ; but while the demand for young sheep is very much in excess of supply offered, old sheep and cattle are overabundant, especially in Merino, and there is. consequently, a difficulty in placing large lines. Fat sheep are plentiful, but the demand is so limited I hit boiling down for heavy weights must be resorted to. For medium weights the demand is fair, though exceeded by the supply.
