TRIMMINGS.

Tns coarse decorative embroidery of floss silk is no longer worn for toilettes de ville; we may have some lighter modifications of it for ball dresses next winter perhaps. The jet embroidery is worked with great care in small elegant patterns on lace tulle. Large quantities of broad braid will be used for woollen dresses —a plain, unobtrusive decoration that may be sewn all over the bodice and aprontunic without making it look over-loaded. I have heard of as much as 140 yards of braid, an inch wide, being used for one costume. This braid can be put on in parallel lines, or fan-shaped, or in zigzags. The lines are generally finished off by a loop ; it is made in silk or worsted of all colours, is Sometimes plain, somet'mes ribbed, or figured, or embroidered with jet. Velvet and braid are almost the only trimmings used for woollen dresses, with the exception, of course, of the material itself.
