The Standard AND PEOPLE'S ADVOCATE. (PUBLISHED EVERY WEDNESDAY AND SATURDAY.)
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 1875.
“ We shall sell to no man justice or right: We shall deny to no man justice or right: We shall defer to no man justice or right.”
The news to hand by late mails and telegrams is of an interesting nature. We have given as copious quotations as our space will allow. Telegrams by the Hokitika boat have been received in the colony giving further particulars relative to the burning of the Cospatrick, and sufferings of the passengers ; also that the magnificent steamer the “ Mongol” has been totally wrecked on a reef in the China seas while on her voyage to London with a cargo of tea; all hands perished. These and other items, which, doubtless, would be interesting, have not come to hand, through the indefatigable manner in which our late Napier exchanges are kept behind. We have no room for editorial matter this issue.
