A dividend of 2s id in the £, per share, in the Hawke’s Bay Boiling Down Company (limited) has been declared. We hear that the Customs authorities have lately seized at one of our local breweries a machine denominated a refrigerator, but which it was feared might be devoted to other purposes, and is now deposited “for safety” in the Custom House shed at the Spit. It is not, we believe, thought that the instrument has been unlawfully used, but the Custom House authorities considering there was liability to danger, have removed it. — Napier Exchange.
