*W 3 take the following in reference to the wool market® from the zjaAipea-i s»l of the 33th October. Such a fall which has since occurred was apparently not anticipated by th i brokers : —Some little inquiry which was ®.o*a for the first few day® after the close uf the recent sales has since died away, and during the past fortnight there has been nothing doing in this staple. We learn, however, from the manufacturing districts that consumption is going on at a fair rate, although at the same time it would appear thst the demand for woolen goods is hardly maintained to the same extent as recently. Messrs. Charles Bal me &, Co. report : —“ The more remote prospect® of the market are scarcely so promising as those now immediately before us; for, notwithstanding that many circumstances exist which will tend to favor continued activity in the woollen industry, it cannot be denied that the range uf privua now ruling is much above the average, and that the largely increased production arising from the new clip, which will shortly bo coming forward, it is said even earlier than usual, will, therefore, probably exercise a conai ierabie influence* in checking any rity in the value of the raw materia I.” Hazard and Ouldecott remark “ Sale® by private contract have continued to be mods fo jolnnlal wool to a small extent, nt prise® on u par with tho dosing rates of last ro._-3.
