LADIES’ EXPRESS.

[The Editor will be glad to give insertion to any local contributions from his lady frimas that may be considered interesting in the family circle, or to the sex generally.] o BREATHE IT SOFTLY. (Glee fob Music.) Breathe it soft I j ; breathe it tenderly; Breathe it sweetly, calmly, slenderly ; Let the accents gently fall, Like the dew drop on a flower, Coyly creeping near a bower, Wake no echoed sound at all. But in hearts now joyous beating, Let the tones find welcome greeting Till each trembling nerve applauds. Let the echoes e’er keep playing ; Like the winds at evening straying O’er unseen JEolian chords. Great Apollo kindly smiling, And the Muses, too, beguiling, Bid sweet melody abound. ’Tis their magic thrills our numbers ; Wakes them from their balmy slumbers; Wakes the airy fays of sound. F.J.P. Gisborne, Nov. 1874. I LOVE BUT THEE. As down the path of life we stray, For thee I’ll cull the roses; And tear each rankling thorn away, Which 'neath their leaves reposes. Come weal or woe my song shall be, “ I love but thee, I love but thee.**

Now for a charming evening toilette: — The dress is of turquoise faille. The back of the skirt is plain, trained and very full. The frout is coulissd, and forms four rows of gathers placed lengthways. It is rounded at the bottom and edged with a deeply-pleated flounce, headed with a niching from under which falls, over the flounce, another flounce of white lace. The bodice has round basques edged with the same lace. A fichu-her the to match veils the front of the bodice* and is fastened by two blue bows placed one over the other. The half-wide sleeves are oj en from the wrist to the elbow over flots of white lace. The same dress in rubycoloured silk and black lace looks more matronly and is very handsome. Another toilette for a young married woman Skirt of mauve silk with bouiltablier and plain train. Over -this a Princess dress of Indian muslin open en coeur in front and fastened together upon the bosom and at the waist by two mauve bows. It opens below, and is looped back by mauve bows on both sides of the bouillonnd tablier. The train of this muslin dress is made long enough to allow of a very moderate puff being raised by a mauve scarf, and yet reach the bottom of the mauve slip. The mauve sleeves are short, and the muslin ones long, and bouillonne with mauve bows along the outside seam. This lovely t -ilette is rendered doubly elegant by its tasteful simplicity. A few Neapolitan violets in the hair comple it. A dress of pale blue silk has the skirt striped in front and at the sides with bouillons of white gaze de Chambery. The blue bodice is opened in front and edged with a similar bouillon over a ruff of illusion. The sleeves are of gaze de Chambery, and bouillonnl also. It is, as you may remark, very much the fashion for sleeves of transparent stuff to be but I do nut advise stout ladies to adopt this fashion. It is better adapted to slim figures.— Ladies, Journal, November.
