The English correspondent of the Auckland Star says : “ The great annual ram sales have lately been held in various parts of England, chiefly in Lincolnshire nd Yorkshire, and New Zealand has been well to the fore amongst the larger purchasers. In fact it has been widely remarked that New Zealand buyers have appeared more determined than ever to secure the best strains of blood that money' can buy. An English trout lias been taken in the river Wairoa, in the province of Auckland, that measured 17jin. in length, and 17in. in girth. This is a strong proof of the adaptability of New Zealand waters to English trout
