7th to 13th October. High winds and clouds of dust have prevailed during the past week. No rain has fallen except a few cooling showers on Sunday

morning, and Monday night, which reduced the atmosphere agreeably. The arid effect of the gales which have alternated between the S.W. and N.W. points for the last two or three weeks, is telling on the young crops and seedlings to a degree which causes our farmers to wish for moderate rains.
