The Bay of Plenty Times states “on authority,’’ that a fair proportion of immigrants now on their way to this colony in the Zealandia, will, on arrival be “drafted" to that district.

It is reported that Mr. T. B. Gillies—who rumour says intends shortly to take a cruise among the South Sea Islands—has entered into negotiations for the purchase of the fine yacht Blanche, belonging to his Excellency the Governor.— WeeitTy News.

We (Bay of Plenty Times) are given to understand that changes will take place immediately in the command of the Bay of Plenty district. Major Roberts’ command will in future be confined to Matata, Maketu, and Rotorua, which will comprise the Tauranga station. The native contingent, at present under the command of Captain Mair, is to be amalgamated with the Armed Constabulary, and Captain Mair and Lieutenant Way will hold commissions respectively as Ist and 2nd class sub-inspectors. The Opotiki District, consisting of Ohiwa, Whakatane, Te Teko and Galatea, will be under the command of second class Sub-Inspector Goring. We presume that the contingent stationed at Te Teko and Galatea, under the command of Captain Preece, will also form part of the Armed Constabulary Force. Prior to being sworn in us constables, the men of the native contingent will undergo medical examination.
