RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT

Gisborne, Friday, 25th September.

[Before W. K. Nesbitt, Esq., R.M.] Henby Carter was fined 20s and costs for furious riding in the streets of Gisborne.

M’KAY VJWLMOBE. Felony—The defendant wgs charged with having feloniously ’ stolen a mare, saddle and bridle, (the proper!yof complainant. From thb defence it would appear that the charge wfc groundless, as to the felonious Intent, Ind "the charge was withdrawn on the suggestion of the police. TE WATENB ▼. jhLLEBS.

Claim, £l5 13s, for twjges due. Judgment for plaintiff, £lllBs 6d, and costs. THOMPSON V.djoCHFOBT. Claim, £2sfe, for Work done as per agreement. Defendant paid £1 16s into court, for which judghjent was recorded in favor of plaintiff.

BOCHFOBT V, THOMPSON. Assault. This cage seems to have arisen out of the pttevious one. Complainant, sworn, deposed to defendant having struck him over the head with a spirit level; several I l witnesses (if such they could be called) were examined, the cross-fire betweep whom and counsel caused much merriment in the court. Damages were awarded to complainant £3 and costg^. z . o’bONdGHUE V. ELET. Claim, £lO for board and Lodging. Judgment confessed. SKILLICOBN & CLARK V. BEAD. Claim, £34 9s lOd, loss sustained by the plaintiffs through non-delivery of one bale of wool. Adjourned for one month. MOODY V. HELYAB. No appearance of plaintiff; case struck out.
