The firm of Messrs. W. and G. Turnbull and Company have preferred salvage claim for ten thousand pounds against the ship Struthnaver, towed in by the Slomshird. It is - rated they were willing to accept a thousand pounds, but that was declined, and now tinfull claim is marie. The matter will be decided before a court of law. h is reported that the steamer Qneen Elizabeth, iwntlv lost near Gibraltar, had on board one of the most valuable cargoes ever shipped from Calcutta. 'ldie entire value of tlie'sxuafO is estimated at <£SOB,OCX). including £33o,(Xib'nrorth of indigo, £50,W0 worth of tea, and £B3, ot silk, shellac, and other articles. The vessel was valued at £27,000. making the aggregate loss £550,000. The vessel and cargo were insured for nearly £400,000.
