'Hie following information is contained in a egram from the New Zealand Loan and

Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, dated London, 22nd July : —Wool—Up to date 225,000 bales have arrived. Market firm. Hume markets are lightly stocked. Tallow —Town melted tallow is cheap. There is no trade demand. Mutton—4lb per cwt; beef, 39b per cwt. Leather—7ooo sides Australasian have been sold since last report. Wheat, Adelaide is worth 62s per 40651b5. New Zealand Hemp—Continues dull of sale. The stock, according to last returns, is 2400 tons. Messrs. Miles Brothers and Co., of London, report on July 10 as follows : —Wool: Since the close of the June series there have been several inquiries from our Home buyers for parcels of wool, eit her bought in or withdraw n, and several parcels (amounting in all to about 1500 bales) have been disposed of privately at a fair advance on the prices at which they were taken in. English wool of the new clip is also higher in price, and trade in the manufacturing districts is improving, bo with every prospect, of a good harvest, we look forward for firmer prices at the next sales, commencing on August 18. About 200,000 have arrived for next sales, including some 56,000 bales from New Zealand. Wheat and flour: Although stocks of wheat, both in farmers’ hands and granary, are very low, yet the demand is limited, and our millers are only purchasing sufficient to supply their immediate wants, as owing to the favorable prospects of the crops here, and also in Aiherica and the principal grain-growing countries of Europe, they are no doubt looking out for still lower prices. Some large arrivals from Australia have further tended to depress the market, and the highest quotations we can at present gave are: —Fine New Zealand, 63s to 64s ; seconds, 60s to 62s ; and old and unsound, 54s to 58 per 496 lbs. New’ Zealand flour is fetching about 42s to 44s per 280 lbs. Tallow and hides : The tallow market has been quiet since our last, with little business doing. Prices are unaltered, viz., 40s to 41s 6d for good to fine New Zealand mutton, and 39b to 40s per cwt. for fair to fine beef tallow. Hides are in improved demand, and prices have slightly advanced, say New Zealand sjd to 6d per lb. New Zealand hemp : The market remains very quiet; some 400 bales have been sold privately, at about late rates, but we think there is rather a downward tendency than otherwise. About 1000 bales have arrived by the Chili, from Auckland.
