The Rangatira’s detention was caused by the Government ordering her back to Wellington from Napier last week, to take the outgoing English Mail via Suez It is feared that the barque Alice Cameron, Captain Carter, an old Auckland trader, has been lost on the voyage from Newcastle to Manilla. Wellington, August 31. Arrived—Euterpe, ship, 124 days from London, with 410 immigrants, all weil. Sept 1. Arrived—Strathnaver, ship, 86 days from London, bringing 391 immigrants, of whom 52 are single girls. There were six deaths (infants) on the voyage, and four births. Dr. Jackson in charge, formerly of the E. P. Bouverie. Lyttleton, Sept. 1. Arrived —Cathcart, 79 days from Gravesend, bringing 479 souls. There were five deaths and four births on the voyage. The ship St. Lawrence; after a passage of 101 days, has also arrived, bringing 404 immigrants, and the Canterbury, from Glasgow, has come in with, it is said, 400 souls on board. Port Chalmers, August 28. Arrived —Bruce, s.s., from Glasgow, 135 days out, and the ship Corona, 95 days from London, with 496 immigrants, all well. August 29. The ship Otago arrived last night, 85 days from Loudon, with 364 immigrants, all well. The Columbus, barque, 87 days from London, with 10 passengers, has also arrived.
