PORT OF POVERTY BAY. DEPARTURES. SEPTEMBER. I—Pretty Jane, t.s.s., Captain Fernandez, for Jiapier. The Pretty Jane should arrive from Napier during to-night and will, probably, leave for Auckland with a cargo of live stock to-morrow evening. The Pretty Jane’s shaft broke on leaving the river on Saturday night last, through contact between her propeller and a sunken rock at. the entrance. Mr. Dick having effected the necessary repairs, the steamer resumed her ▼oyage yesterday morning. The Bailiff on the S.S. Tartar.—ln reply to Sir Cracroft Wilson regarding the bailiff being put on board the Tartar at ’Frisco, Mr. Vogel said it was true the Tartar was detained several days at ’Frisco until communication was had with home, and arrangements made for her departure. .The mails were sent from Wellington. The Government would take care that they would leave San Francisco. New South Wales was anxious for a continuance of the service, but the Government discouraged the idea of any renewal with that Government of a temporary contract. It is expected that arrangements will be made with the builders of the steamers for carrying out the contract.
The ship Warrior Queen, from Otago, New Zealand, went ashore at about 6 p.m. ou July 20th, about four miles north of Point Beyes. The boats were got out immediately. The Captain remained aboard all night, and at 4 a.m. the following day all hands left the wreck, and arrived at San Francisco at 6 p.m. The wreck was sold the following day for 760 dollars. The accident occurred during a dense fog.
