The arrivals for next London sales amount to 226,000 bales. The market is firm. The Goodwood Cup was won by Mr. Merry’s Doncaster, Mr. Saville’s Kaiser second, Miss Toto third. New Zealand hemp has sold at £l7 10s per ton. PARIS. August 1. The French National Assembly definitely resolved to adjourn on August 6 to November 3. The motion to raise the state of seige on the Spanish frontier was rejected, but France notified to Germany that, it will agree to act in unison with other powers regarding the recognition of the Carlists as belligerents. AUSTRALIAN TELEGRAMS. MELBOURNE. August 5. Madame Goddabd will shortly visit New Zealand. Mr. Redwood’s race horse has arrived in splendid condition. SYDNEY. August 5. The A.S.N. Co. have declared a dividend of 12) per cent. The steamer City of Adelaide has again been chartered for the San Francisco mail service. She will leave Sydney for Auckland on the 14th and convey the outward mails. The s.s. Tartar, now on her way from Frisco, is to be sent back to China. The Cyphrenes will be the next through steamer. Gardiner, the bushranger, has been released and sent to Hong Kong. The revenue of Tasmania has been estimated by the Treasurer at £265,000 for the year 1874 and at £311,000 for 1875. It is proposed to expend £160,000 on public works.
