Wellington, August 4. A LETTER received from Messrs. Turnbull and Co.’s London agent states that it has brrn computed that there arc now one million more sheep in Great Britain than there were two years ago. The following information has been received from Shanghai, under date 18th June:—“The steamers Amoy and Legislator are loading . teas for the colonies. The former vessel u ill call at Melbourne and thence to Sydney. The Legislator belongs to the A.S.N. Co., and will on her passage to Sydney, call at Brisbane.” August 6. Market: Flour, £l3 to £l4; bran, la 3d to la 4d ; potatoes, £5 10s to £6 ; oats, 4s 9d to 5s ; hams and bacon, 9d to 10|d ; butter, Is to Is 3d ; eggs, 2s 6d ; cheese, 7id to Bjd. Christchurch, August 6. The following quotations are f.o.b. in Lyttelton ; -Wheat- 5s to 5s 3d ; oats, 4s 9d ; barley, 5» 6d to 6s ; flour, £l2 to £l3 ; bran, £6 ; ■harns, £7 ; cheese, 7d ; butter, Is Id ; potatoes, £5. Melbourne. Business is dull. A cargo of parcels new teas was sold at 11 |d to Is 3d for Congous, and fine teas were quitted up to 2s 3d. Brandies were receding in value. Kerosine sold up to Is od.
