IN re “ SOME SHAMS I HAVE KNOWN.”
TO TUB EDITOR. Sib, —Allow mo to state for the information of some inquisitive people that the characters depicted in the above article are not meant for individual portraits. Such a recognition, however complimentary to the author, is the reverse to those members of the community referred to by them. The “ shams ” were meant for types of a class happily far from common in New Zealand.
I may also state that the gentleman generally credited with the authorship of the above had nothing to do with writing it. By inserting this you will oblige. Yours, &c., You Yangs.
