Balharry, Grubb, Allen, Chatfield, Broadbent, Axup, Fisher, Faulknor, Cameron, Scott, Becker, Carrol, Blake, Boylan, Johnstone, and one native. DEPARTURES. JULY. s—Rangatira, s.s„ for Napier and Wellington. Passengers—Mrs. Vaughan and boy, Messrs. Fuller, Axup, Balharry, Chatfield, and some . others. B—Effie Meikle, schooner, Kennedy, master, for Tologa Bay and the coast. Tbs Pretty Jane did not arrive at Auckland until Saturday last. It is notified in the Gazette that Henry Kraeft has been oppoinled Harbor-master for the port of Napier. Tub steahier Storm Bird was announced in Wellington to leave that port for Napier on Monday last with a full cargo. The Wellington Evening Post of the IstJnly reports that the Rangatira made her last passage from Napier to that post in an hour less time than the City of Adelaide. 'J'HB Rangatira arrived in the Bay on Sunday last,, but beyond landing passengers and mails little or nothing .was done. The heavy sea running in across the bar prevented any cargo beyond about 5 tons being discharged. Capt. Lloyd wailed until late in the evening hoping that the steam launch would be able to tow the Effie Meikle out and discharge into her. But as Capt. Kennedy had about 25 tons ou board, and the night being dark, he objected -, consequently about 60 tons of cargo were treated to another trip up the coast. The ship Kars has sunk in the sen of Marmora, drowning 320 persons. Auckland, June 28. There was great excitement at 10 o’clock last night, in consequence of a rumour which had been circulated that the cutter Sovereign of the Seas had brought news of the total wreck of the Queen of Nations: 98 days out from Belfast and Liverpool, with 400 immigrants. AU hands but seven, it was said, had been lost. The excitement began to subside soon after eleven. The Immigration Commissioners to-day held an inquiry into complaints by the passengers by the immigrant ship Loch Awe, against Da Wylie, the surgeon superintendent hi" charge. The accusations made are of an abominable character. The inquiry occupied four hours. The doctor denies all the charges, and makes very light of his situation. The inquiry was adjourned till Tues lay, to enable him to bring rebutting testimony. Wellington, June 29. H.M.S.S. Challenges made a long passage, having to put back to Sydney, after being two. days out. She also encountered rough weather on reaching this coast, and had to take shelter in Port Hai-dy, from Wednesday till Saturday morning. The deepest sounding taken across was 2,600 fathoms. The bottom was sand and mod till almost within sight of New Zealand, when the bottom became rocky and shallowed suddenly. Lyttelton, June 29. Arrived—Btonehouse, from London, 80 days oat, with 446 souls, all well. Cleared—Rakaia, for London. Port Chalmers, July 2. Thb ship Dunedin, 80days from Greenock, and haring on board 500 immigrants, was spoken off the Heads last evening. There were fourteen deaths on the passage. She passed on to Lyttelton with a fine S.W. breeze. Melbourne, June 24. Thb Torres Straits mail steamer Flintshire has been totally wrecked in Cleveland Bay, North Australia; all on board were saved. Madame Goddard and Blondin were passengers, and were in an open boat all night.; they lost 'al I their effects, but reached shore in safety.
