Gisborne, Monday; 29tii June. [Before W. K. Nesbitt, Esquire, R.M.] R. M. SKEET V. WI PARAONE AND ERU PARAONE. Mr. Cuff for plain! iff; Mr. Wilson for defendants. This was an information made by the plain!iff as Surveyor to the Poverty Bay District Highway Board, against the defendants in that they did within the last two months past, to wit on or about the 15th June, without lawful authority, erect a fence upon' and across* a public road, leading Mnkauri Bush to Brown’s Point, through® Tahoka Block of land, so as to'obstructSfl same, and obstruct the free passage of the sfflfelt public road. Mr. Cuff applied for an adjournment for the purpose of obtaining evidence. Adjourned until Friday, the 3rd July. R. M. SKEET, SECRETARY TO P.B.D.H. BOARD V. ANDREW PARK. Claim for 13s lid. Assessments for 1874-75. Mr. Cuff for plaintiff ; Mr. Wilson for defendant. Defendant pleaded non-indebtedness for two sections sold previous to assessment roll being made. Plaintiff urged liability of defendant because he had not made an objection to the rate as prescribed by the Act. A long argument took place between counsel, and the Magistrate said he would read the law bearing on the subject, and give judgment on Friday next. ..
