— PORT OF POVERTY BAY.
The Star of the South looked into the Bay on Sunday morning on her passage to Napier, and dropped two passengers, Messrs. Wallace and Buchanan. She took no mail. '1 HE revenue cutter Ringleader has arrived at Auckland from a cruise to Tauranga, having on board Mr. Seed (Commissioner of Customs) and Mrs. Seed. The schooner Rover has cleared at Auckland for Povert y Bay via the East Coast with 10,000 feet of timber and a quantity of general stores. The timber is shipped by Mr. Jloldship, and the stores by Lewis Bros, and Owen and Graham. Messrs. Alexander Stephen and Sons, < f Limehouse, have just launched an iron screw steamer of about 400 tons register for the New Zealand trade. She is to be named the Bruce, and is to bo fitted with compound engines. The Cyphrenes mail steamer was expected at Auckland on Friday last, 24th April. According to the latest telegrams this vessel was to connect with the Mikado and bring the mail on to New Zealand, the latter steamer returning to San Fancisco. 'The Mongol is to cirry the Sydney portion of the mail and passengers. Captain Braddick, of the Countess of Kinlore, has forwarded to Auckland the following particulars of his voyage home: — According to promise I take the first opportunity of advising you of the arrival of the Countess of Kintore. We had a pleasant passage anil sighted the Start eighty-seven days out, get I ing the slip into I lock on the 90th day. The Wild Duck, from Otago, I spoke on the passage. He arrived in Dock two days after me. The Lady Bowen, barque, arrived in Dock yesterday. 1 give dates:—Countess of Kintore: Left Auckland, 18th November, 1873; to Horn thirty days; to Line sixty days ; Start, 15th February, 1871 ; Dock, 17th February, 187 L Wild Duck: Left Otago 18th November, 1873 ; Dock, 19th February, 1871. Lady Down arrived in Dock 19th February, 1871. The ship is entered out for Auckland to sail soon.
