“ We shall sell to no man justice or right: We shall deny to no man justice or right : We shall defer to no man justice or right.”

Volunteer Meeting.—The G.R.V. Company will parade on Thursday next, at 3.30 p.m. R.M.’s Court. —Judgment was not given yesterday morning as announced, in re Mullooly v. Cowan and Cowan v. Mullooly owing to the absence of the R.M. at Tologa Bay. Divine Service.—The Rev. Father Simpson will conduct Divine Service on Sunday next, at Ormond, at 11 o’clock, and at Gisborne in the evening at 6 o’clock. Telegraph.—lnformation reaches us to the effect that the telegraph wires are stretched through to Te Wairoa, and that the road work is progressing on this side of that township. There seems to be still some doubt if the line will be allowed to be erected without some more fuss being made by the natives, as they arc still offering a feeble opposition. Protection of Animals Act. —A proclamation appears in a late G-azetle under the hand of J. D. Ormond, Superintendent of Hawke’s Bay, notifying “ that May, June, and July are the months within which native game .s*A<z/Z be hunted, shot, taken, or killed within that province.” There’s no help for the birds in that province, that’s certain.
