The Opotiki cleared yesterday at the Customs for Napier, with the following cargo: 31/ hags grass seed, 15 boxes apples, 6 empty hogsheads. Passengers: —Mrs. Best, Messrs. Stubbs and Nasmith. The Auckland Star's London correspondent says:—“On the 19th January the second ship of the New Zealand Shipping Companv was launched from John Blumer s yard, and named the Waikato. She is the sister ship to tile Kukaia (a magnificent ship ■of over I.JUO tons), and w ill be commanded bv a Captain Hodder, many years in Dun•dass’ emnlov. The W aikato will take m her ■dead weight at Sunderland, and come round to London and take in her emigrants, and sail for New Zealand about the 20th of March.” The next ship for you will be the fine iron ship Booparell, Al, 1010 tons, about five veal's old. She will sail about the 10th of next month. 1 fear she will not be full of passengers, for she measures for 310 adults. The Flying Dutchman has been beaten. The London "Times, in, describing the voyage of the Aviemore from Sydney to London, gays that she left “Sydney Heads on the afternoon of the 13th September, and rounded Cape Horn at 9 o’clock the same Evening!” London, March 28. New Shipping Company.—An Australian and American Steamship Company has been registered, with a capital of £600,000, to take over the new line of steamers between San Francisco and Sydney.
