IMPORTANT TELEGRAM.
Through the (dis) courtesy of Mr. Poynter, Chairman of the Road Board, we were placed in possession of the following official telegram, which we now reprint from the columns of our contemporary. It is from His Honor the Superintendent, under date Wellington, April 3, and runs as follows :— “ TO J. B. POYNTER, ESQ. “ I have agreed with the Government here that the Luna is to proceed to Poverty Bay, with Mr. Blackett, of the Marine department, to survey and define the limits of your harbor. When that is done, I shall appoint Captain Kennedy to be Pilot; and the Commissioner of Customs will appoint him Harbor Master. TTop bridge across the Waipaoa and metalling the main road from Gisborne to Ormond, also, the Arai roads, are to be immediately undertaken by the Works department. Telegraphic lines to be extended to Gisborne. “J. Williamson.”
