MEETING OF THE DRAMATIC CLUB.

In response to an advertisement in these columns, a general meeting of the Dramatic Club was held on Saturday evening, Mr, C. D. Berry, the manager, in the chair. The meeting was one of the most numerously attended since the formation of the society, which is a good sign of the increased interest taken in its affairs. The accounts in connection with the late entertainment were received and passed, and the balance-sheet showed that the Club is at length out of debt, with a satisfactory balance jn the Treasurer’s hands. The Manager announced that the drama of the “ Rent Day,” and the Farce entitled the “ Dead Shot,” had been selected for representation, and expressed a hope that the next performance would be given in a month’s time or less. The office bearers’ term of office having expired, they resigned their various trusts.

Mr. Stubbs was voted to the chair, and the meeting considered the advisability of amending the rules. After considerable discussion, the old rules were cancelled, and a new code, introduced by Mr. Piesse, were unanimously adopted in their stead. The Corps is for the future to be called “ The Turanganui Dramatic Club.” Captain Porter was elected President; Mr. Stubbs, Vice-President; Mr. C. D. Berry, Stage Manager; Mr. H. M. L. Atelierley, Secretary and Treasurer ; and Mr. B. Hartnett, Wardrobe master, for the current year. It was also agreed that all the nonplaying members at present on the roll be requested to give their support to the Club as honorary members. The thanks of the Club were recorded to Mrs. Berry, for kindly presiding at the piano on the occasion of the late performance. It is more than probable that an increased attraction will he provided by the introduction of lady amateurs at future performances.—[Communicated.]
