There is little news to hand by the Pretty Jane. Captain Holman of the barque Anazi has levanted to Fiji, in the hope of escaping the law costs of the late trial. His certificate had been restored to him. Auckland papers contain the sensational news that “rich gold, bearing quartz, has been found at Tokomaru, 80 miles from Poverty Bay.” £5O was given to the Steam Navigation Co. by the Reception Committee at Napier, for the detention of the Wellington at that port, to allow' the Representatives to be present at the ball given to them by the settlers. Captain Morris presented an address of welcome to the Governor at Tauranga. The luncheon given to the Representatives at Napier, was a great success. Mrs. Ormond presented the prizes.
