Smoke was repotted to have been seen far nut at Bea on Sunday last ; it is supposed to bare been the Star of the South making for Napier. 'i> a .Vetc Zealand Gazetie, dated Feb. 26. 1874, notice to mariners is given that information has been received from the Superintendent of Hawke’s Bay, that the buoy which has hitherto marked the position of the Auckland Rock has been washed away, and that it will not be replaced for the present. Th EKE was no appearance of the Pretty Jane, —due in Gisborne last Friday,—at a late hour last night. Captain Kennedy is restless ashore if what »»e hear is true. The Auckland papers say that Dr. Wright (of the firm of Stratford and Wright of Parnell) has purchased the schooner Effie Meikle, and the local quid nunc inform us that Captain Kennedy is to take command as |>art owner. We wish them both good luck.
