And I would ask you to give the subject your mature consideration previous to the meeting (in order that something definite as to your ideas may be arrived at at the meeting) that I may be enabled to support, as far as 1 can, the wishes of the majority. Captain Read does not assent to have any investigation into dealings in lands that are disputed; for instance, with reference to our Block of Wharaurangi, which he took from us for Goods Orders. Let this sale come before the Commissioner who is authorized to investigate. We quite agree to repay the money advanced by Captaiq* Read on this land purchased by him, but he is unwilling to receive back his own money advanced. Let this Notice tell you all (Captain Read as well, with his Shepherds) that we will drive back all Stock belonging to him—Sheep Hones, or Cattle —we are not willing that his Stock should depasture on Wharaurangi.
