ROAD BOARD.

Tuesday, 10th March, 1874. Present : Messrs. Poynter, King, Parsons, and Hull. The Engineer was authorized to erect a pump and trough on Read’s quay near the Ferry. The Chairman laid before the Board copies of letters forwarded to the Superintendent in reference to the requirements of the district generally. Mr. Skiilieom waited on the BOBrtt hi reference to the approaches to the Ormond crossing of the Waipaoa river near the redoubt; niso as to the state of the road past the Saw Mills. The Engineer was instructed to prepare specification and sections of the work required. It having been represented to the Board that the cattle wandering at large about the town cause great damage, Mr. Hall was authorised to impound or appoint some person to do so. It was resolved to erect a culvert at the junction of Cobden-street and Gladstone-road on the South side. Mr. Morgan offered to erect the bridge bver the Waikanae Stream, for the sum of £B2, so soon as the balance required beyond the Road Board grant is subscribed by the inhabitants. The Engineer was instructed to examine and report on the Church-road Matawhero as to the best means of draining the same.
