ROAD BOARD.
Monday, 16th February, 1874. Present : Messrs. Poynter, Johnson, Parsons, and Hall. LETTERS RECEIVED : From Mr. Webb enquiring if, in the face of a tender having been accepted by the Board for the Standard newspaper to execute the advertizing and printing for the remainder of the current financial year, the Board s advertisements appearing in the Poverty Pay Herald are inserted in that' journal with the sanction of the Board. The Secretary was instructed to reply that the Board had duly authorized the arrangement, and that it was never contemplated that the proprietor of the Standard should have exclusive right of printing for Board. From Mr. Scott in reference to the Kaitaratahi road. Secretary to acknowledge receipt and mention that Mr. Scott’s contribution would be accepted in labor. Mr. Dalziell waited on the Board with reference to outlet drain through his paddock, also as to stock wandering ou the public road. The subject of drain was held over. The contractor for the maintenance of the roads will be authorized to impound any horses or cattle trespassing on the road. The Chairman reported that, he had been unable to make any satisfactory arrangement with the natives as to quarrying metal. Mr. Bold presented the Board with a tracing of lines of road as laid off by Messrs. Graham and Williams. Resolved that a pump and trough be nxecl on Head s quay ab me spring near the Ferry house. Resolved that ail the roads be properly graded before any metal is spread on them. The Board decided to meet at the Waerenga-a-hika Hotel on Saturday next at 11 a.m. and to proceed to inspect the site from which metal can be obtained. Several amount on account of contracts were paid.
