NATIVE COMMITTEE MEETING.
The Committee appor te l some time since to investigate such of the land disputes between Maoris and Europeans as might come under their notice, met on We lues lay last, when the following resolution was passed :— “This Committee, having carefully considered the nature of the different claims having reference to the following block*: Whatatutu, Rangatira, and Rakaikiteroa. and not being empowered to decile thereon, strongly recommend that the whole matter should be adjudicated upon by a Court of Arbitrators to consist, of the following gentlemen:—Dr. Nesbitt, Mr. Graham, Mr. Horsfall. Sub-Inspector Richardson, Cnntain Porter, Henare Pota •, Hare Wahie, Kerehona Piwaka. Apiata Parihiua.” The na ices, we are requested to state, ar ■ particularly desirous of having these outstanding disputes amicably settled, and th-y hope the Europeans will abide the decision of the Arbitrators.
