The Masonic. —The name of this Hotel seems to be a convertible term for “ Caulton,” the proprietor of Gisborne’s “Masonic” having been identified with an hotel of that name, in another province, for many years past. We are glad to sec that he is once more in harness and the landlord of a very fine house, one that does great credit to the enterprise, and we wish him well. So much indeed has been said about it that, excepting the lamp, and (he billiard table not yet fixed, there is little left to say. But, with respect to the former we decidedly think that the public (or say the Road Board, who are popularly supposed to represent the public ; or their chairman, who is a very epitome of public opinion—much compressed) should express their thanks for the magnanimity which projected so very useful an idea—if a lamp may be called an idea. Suspended between 2 posts is a large parti-colored lamp ornamented with insignia indicative of the great origin of the name over which it sheds its light; it is very handsome and, as we have said, its great public utility deserves the thanks of the community.
