Ladies Purse of 25 sovs., entrances added; welter weights for age; professional riders 71b. extra; distance: two miles. 4. Consolation 1J andicap of 15 sovs., postentry of one pound each added, for all beaten horses tit this meeting ; distance: one mile and a distance. 5. Forced Handicap of all winners at this meeting. 2.1 percent, deducted from winnings, ivith 5 sovs., added. Entrance compulsory of one guinea each; losing hotjses optional; post entry; distance: one mile and a half.

Handicaps to be made by the Stewards or whom they may appoint. Second horse to save stakes except in the Hack Race. No person shall be qualified, to enter a horse in other than the “Hacks,” unless he is a subscriber to the Race Fund of at least Two Guineas. All entries (excepting Turanga Stal <es, which are to be sent in at time, and as above specified, addressed, as below) enclosing fee of 15 percent, on value of stakes, together with qualification, to be made in writing, and forwarded to the Honorary Secretary, at the Argyll Hotel, Gisborne, not later than 8 p.m., 22nd January, 1874. Entry to include name, description, and age of 'horse, and colors of the riders. Jockies to ride in colors as described in entry, otherwise subject to a penalty of one pound. The winner of any match ran on th,e course to pay Ten Shillings to the Race Fund. Five per cent, to be deducted from amount of winnings towards expenses. Money to be paid previous to starting.
