TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—The withering production in your last issue referring to the collection of subscriptions is both highly amusing and characteristic. It is a most glaring fault with a certain class of man to be proud to say he has told the truth without telling the whole truth, If the talented writer of that precious effusion, xiplv rnJUxl to his memory that G’„n .did say that he was not acquainted with the particulars of anyone of the races, and that if they were required the Secretary was the proper man to apply to,” upon which the gentleman requested to subscribe, indulged in expletives of a most choice description, and as a last resource the Collector put the matter interrogatively, “ You would not like your name posted upon the list of non-subscribers, would you ?” This seemed to have injured the gentleman’s delicate skin, and the Collector departed, not annoyed, but rather amused. —I am, &c., Collector.
