HE RE AS certain persons unknown have without lawful authority, been Cutting and Felling Kauri and other timber and underwood growing upbn the Crown Lands of the Province of Auckland, and have also in like manner removed the same therefrom; and whereas it is desirable that such unauthorised cutting, felling, and removal, as aforesaid should at once be , restrained, and all persons so offending

punished : It is now, therefore, hereby_notified for public information that all persons are warned not to I damage, cut, fell, or remove therefrom any timber or underwood of any kind whatsoever growing, standing, or lying upon the public lands of the said Province of Auckland. And further, that all persons so offending against these presents will be prosecuted under the provisions of “ The Crown Lands Act, 1862,” or in such other manner as may be deemed most effectual in this behalf. The Chairman and Trustees of the various Highway Boards throughout the Province are hereby requested to aid and assist the Government, as far as possible, by actual prohibition and by communication to Government of the names of such offenders as may come under their notice, in the endeavour to suppress the unauthorised waste, felling and removal of kauri and other timber and all underwood on and from the lands aforesaid.
