THE STANDARD.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 1873.

“ We shall sell to no man justice or right: We shall deny to no man justice or right: We shall defer to no man justice or right.”

The Deed of Cession Commission Court, somewhat unexpectedly brought its proceedings to a close on Monday last, by the adoption of certain measures based on instructions from the Government relative to a strict adherence to the Deed of Cession itself, and the agreement made with the natives at the first sitting of the Commission in 1869. We purposed noticing this matter at some length this morning, but are compelled to defer it. Judging of the importance of the work accomplished by the present Commission, by its results, we think this district, and the colony generally, are to be congratulated on so satisfactory a settlement of a very vexed question. Tuesday and yesterday were occupied by a Sitting of the Native Lands Court, under the Native Lands Act, a report of •which we are also obliged to suspend insertion until Saturday.
