October. Sunday 19.—From the cold of the past months, nature seemed to have suddenly stepped into the full blaze of summer. To-day the glass stood at 102 c in the sun, and 80 ° in the shade. Monday and Tuesday.—Warm, but the heat v«>a«o 4 nmnararl iritbl onol 800 hI’PPTPQ, Wednesday 22. — A sudden gale from S.E. sprung up at 8 a.m., with threatening showers during the day ; but subsided into a delicious mellow ealm at sunset. Thursday 23.—Brilliant sky, light varying breeze. The last two nights have been intensely cold. Friday 24.—A light hot N.W. breeze and clear sky, cool sea breeze p.m.
