Passengers—Mr. and Mrs. Young and son, Mr. and Mrs. Pratt, Messrs. Parker, Orr, J. R. Rhodes, and Chambers, and 8 for Auckland. DEPARTURES. SEPTEMBER. 11- -Paterson, p.s., Kennedy, for Auckland.

Opotiki has been detained by head winds. She will, doubtless, put to sea this morning. Comerang may be looked for to-day on her way to Napier. Rangatira will return from the South on Tuesday. We are indebted to the purser for the following report of the p.s. Paterson, A. Kennedy, commander:—Loaded at Rattray-street Jetty, Dunedin, —came down the river the Ist inst, coaled and sailed same day at 6.15 p.m., easterly winds throughout to Lyttelton, arrived there, after towing the Columbus in, at 2.20 p.m. of 2nd. Left again at 5 p.m. of 3rd, fresh north-west winds to Wellington, reached there on the 4th as noon, proceeded again at 10.40 a.m. of 6th, light head winds, anchored in Hawke’s Bay Sunday morning, entered the Iron Pot on Monday night, towed the brigantine Amherst inside, and sailed on the 10th at 11 a.m., easterly sea and light winds.
