It was resolved that proceedings be taken against, all parties who have neglected to pay their rates. The consideration of matters in respect to the Pound was held over to next sitting day. The Secretary -jras instructed to write to the Superintendent in answer to his letters dated August 6, 1873, asking for an expression of opinion as to the extension and subdivision of the Highway District; to the effect that the Board was aot of opinion that any extension was desirable at present, but if asked for by the ratepayers the present district might well be divided into three and perhaps the town separated. The following accounts were passed :—Contingencies, £5 16s 6d ; Dick and Paterson, balance of contract for piles and beacons, £35. : , s The Board adjourned"till Monday, 15th Sep-, tember.
