Dr. Suter, the Bishop of Nelson, has recently returned to Great Britain. The following is the congratulation he receives from the CAareA Hemld: —“ There are already eighteen retired colonial bishops returned to, and starring it in, England. And now Dr. A. B. Suter, from New Zealand, is coming back to make the 19th. This obscure prelate, a sort of Evangelical Erastian—what a queer cross-breed! —was specially appointed by Archbishop Tait. Originally Dr. Suter was, we believe, an East-end clergyman, one of the well-known ‘Beggars of BethnalGreen.’ What were his qualifications or claims for a colonial bishopric it would puzzle an Archangel or a Scotch metaphysician to determine. He did nothing in the East-end of London; he has done nothing in New Zealand, but eat, and drink, vegetate, and grow older. -
